Annabelle Robertson, a civil rights attorney and the founder of Indivisible South Carolina, will announce her bid for Congress on Thursday.
Robertson will hold an announcement event at 10:30 a.m. in Columbia at the South Carolina Democratic Party Headquarters, according to information provided by campaign manager Brandon Upson.
Robertson is scheduled to give a speech at the event and, according to the same information, will highlight local activism and her experience as an attorney.
In a prepared statement, Robertson said, “America is in crisis.” She said the country deserves a “warrior who will fight for them – not against them.”
The same message is displayed on her campaign website.
Robertson’s prepared statement also outlines her initial running platform: “Justice, livable wages and health care,” all of which she said are achievable goals.
“I’m running for Congress because I am the warrior that will bring prosperity to S.C. District 2,” she added.
