Conservatives Try to Separate Abortion and Women’s Health, Progressives Strike Back

State Rep. Micah Caskey is down with people getting it on, but that’s as far as “reproductive rights” go for him.

The clarification of his position came after progressive activist group Indivisible South Carolina pushed the first-year Lexington Republican via Twitter to defend his support of Gov. Henry McMaster’s recent measures to withhold state dollars from medical providers that perform abortions.

“You sound confused. I’m a conservative. Reproductive rights? Yes. Infanticide rights? No,” Caskey blasted back on Twitter.

“I was trying to underscore a distinction between ‘reproductive rights’ in the sense that I believe there is a fundamental right to procreate,” Caskey said in an email after the online remarks, “and ‘infanticide’ as a shorthand for termination of life in utero.”

That sounds like an unfunny joke to Annabelle Robertson of Indivisible SC.
